Question by Laurie B: Legitimate Entry Level Work From Home Medical Transcription Jobs?
I am looking for a legitimate entry level work from home medical transcription job that you don’t have to pay anything to them in order to work for them. I have no formal training in medical transcription, but I have 3 years experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have been training myself for medical transcription with my fiance’s text books and computer software. I have it down now, having transcribed 100s of practice dictations and refreshing my knowledge of medical terminology, spelling, and Anatomy and Physiology. I have post traumatic stress disorder, so I cannot do what I used to do in nursing homes and sales, so I have been studying and practicing transcription for awhile now so I will be able to work from home. I cannot afford to take the certification test (which I could pass easily). Does anybody know any legitimate work from home medical transcription jobs from home? All the ones I have found, I had to pay upfront costs, which I cannot do. Please Help!!!

Best answer:

Answer by jannsody
Well I’m sorry that you are dealing with the ptsd and hope that you get that under control. I’m not sure that there are too many jobs out there for medical transcriptionists or that there are any legit ‘at-home’ jobs. If any of those ads ask for those upfront costs, it’s basically a scam.

Question by : Can you live comfortably as a Physical therapy assistant?
I’m very interested in this career and have been researching and researching nonstop, but I would like a more personal point of view. The question is actually in the title: Can I live comfortably, as a single female in either Seattle, Washington or Southern California, with PTA as a career? I’m talking about if I could survive off of its $ 30-45,000 salary, does it have good benefits, is it difficult to find a job, how much entry level salary is? Now I’m not talking about wanting to live like “kings and queens” I just don’t want to be living paycheck to paycheck. I grew up in a big family and when the economy went bad we struggled like crazy. I guess you can say I’m traumatized . I know your saying why PTA instead of PT? Long story short I need income and I need it sooner than later. Another factor is that I’m interested in other fields, why not have a great steady job that I actually am interested in while I look into some. Any Info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time your a real lifesaver .

Best answer:

Answer by bj
As a PTA you can be well off by yourself, i mean.. you only have to go to school 2 years and get your associates. I asked the same question yesterday, and got few answers. So i went and talked to my teachers at my technical school and they told me, (since i also have a girlfriend that i would like to be able to spend money on rather than living paycheck to paycheck) My teachers told me that i should consider being an RN (registered nurse) because you make like $ 70,000 starting out and it only gets more and more.. if you choose to go back to school for RN you can choose to specialize in a specific area, then you get paid $ 95,000. Im having such trouble too, i know your situation except i have a girlfriend that i would like to take care of, ya know? So im still deciding hopefully you take my word of advice. Just so you know, hospitals pay you more as opposed to a professional office. I think the benefits from the job as PTA will totally allow you to be a single girl

Question by : What type of health care/medicine related summer jobs can a 16 year old guy get?
I am Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, first aid, and AED trained.

Best answer:

Answer by GaryR
Almost certainly nothing, sorry. At your age, there would be nothing you could do related to patient care. But you COULD go down to your local hospital and volunteer your time and services. All patients need little things now and then that overloaded nurses simply don’t have time to do. A patient might want a couple of new magazines from the gift shop, or need a toiletry, or would like a newspaper. You can volunteer to help out with that, and put yourself to good use. Meanwhile, you can observe and see what’s going on so you become a little more familiar with what goes on in a hospital.
